IS 165 - Programming in Java I


The focus of this course is the study of the Java Programming language, with an emphasis on introducing the basic concepts of object orientation and the basic structure and framework of a Java program. Topics include object-oriented program development, defining, creating, and using objects, communicating through methods, working with applets, the Java development environment and coding conventions, variables, data types, and operators, conditionals and loops, strings and string processing, and an introduction to one-dimensional arrays and array processing. 4.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 60.00 Prerequisite: IS 122 Programming Logic .
