NM 410 - Ethics in Nursing


This course is designed to introduce nursing students to ethical theory and practice with a view to enhancing both their understanding of value issues in healthcare and their future practice as healthcare professionals. Given their unique role in healthcare, nurses have special ethical responsibilities. Emphasis is placed on the development of a personal values system that includes the capacity to make and act upon ethical judgments and the ability to apply decision making in nursing practice. 2.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 30.00 Prerequisites: HU 101 Critical Thinking , SC 150 Principles of Nutrition , NM 352 Public Health Nursing , NM 424 Gerontological Nursing .

  Corequisites:  NM 480 Leadership and Issues in Nursing , NM 422 Clinical Nursing III , SS 340 Social Structure and Culture in the United States , HU 325 Literature and the Art of Healthcare .
