NO 220 - Health Deviations in Older Adulthood

This course introduces the older adult on a continuum from normal aging to health deviations, defines and identifies the diversity of the older client, and studies the characteristics of this population as seen in the United States. The student learns to develop critical thinking skills, utilize educational resources, and investigate biological, sociological, and psychological theories applicable to the aging client. The family unit is emphasized, and alternatives are explored. Legal and ethical concerns, to include elder law and abuse, are considered. Nursing assessment, diagnosis, interventions, evaluations, and documentation are applied through this course. 2.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 30.00 Prerequisites: NO 212 - Adult Nursing Systems III/NO 213 - Adult Nursing Systems III Clinical.
