DH 290 - Pharmacology for the Dental Hygienist


This course introduces the student to a variety of drug categories, with emphasis placed on commonly prescribed medications and drugs utilized in the dental office. The physical and chemical characteristics of drugs, routes of administration, therapeutic and side effects, precautions, drug interactions, and contraindications to dental treatment will be covered. 2.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 30.00 Prerequisites: MA 109 College Algebra , SC 165 General Microbiology , SC 165L General Microbiology Lab , SC 185 General Chemistry , SC 185L General Chemistry Lab , DH 105 Dental and Medical Terminology , and DH 111 Medical Emergencies in Dentistry .
