DH 402 - Periodontology II


The course presents the etiology of periodontal disease as well as the histopathological and pathogenesis of gingivitis and periodontitis. Emphasis will be placed on the progression of periodontal disease and the role of the dental hygienist in the management and treatment of disease. Roles of clinical research in the treatment of periodontal disease will also be discussed. The course will focus on periodontal case studies for assessment and diagnosis and treatment options. 2.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 30.00 Prerequisites: DH 284 Community Dental Health , DH 299C Dental Hygiene Clinical Practice I , DH 302 Periodontology I , DH 320 Clinical Theory and Scientific Basis , and DH 320L Clinical Theory and Scientific Basis Laboratory .
