HI 225 - Foundations of Classification, Compliance, and Reimbursement Methodologies in Health Information Management


This course provides an overview of the health information practice, health care delivery systems, organization and structure of health care systems, professional associations, health care providers, and health care disciplines. The student is introduced to the Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and ethical issues pertaining to contents of the health record. 3.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 45.00 Prerequisites: HI 215 Fundamentals of Healthcare Law and Ethics for Health Information Management Professionals , HI 222 Diagnostic Coding , and HI 223 Procedural Coding .
