NO 109 - Adult Nursing Systems I


This course introduces the student to the concepts of medical-surgical nursing, and subsequent courses are built upon the concepts and skills learned in medical-surgical nursing. Students are prepared for the vast opportunities in modern healthcare delivery and nursing practice. The science of adult medical-surgical nursing emphasizes health promotion, assessment, care plans, risk factors, genetics, pharmacology, ethics, patient education, and other related areas. Basic medical-surgical nursing care is directed toward the adult in acute and chronic settings. The role of the associate’s-degree nurse is stressed in physiology, pathophysiology, and psychosocial context as it relates to patient care. 3.00 semester credit hours Contact Hours: 45.00 Prerequisites: NO 107 - Fundamentals of Nursing II /NO 107L - Fundamentals of Nursing II Lab /NO 108 - Fundamentals of Nursing II Clinical .
