NU 447 - Adult Health III/Nursing Practicum This course expands on previous nursing knowledge and skills to provide care to patients/clients that have complex health stressors with unpredictable outcomes. The focus is on caring for patients in specialty settings such as critical care, cardiovascular care, surgery, and emergency care. The student will demonstrate synthesis of the program objectives in both the classroom and clinical setting, readiness for beginning work as a nurse generalist, and potential for success on the NCLEX-RN licensure examination. An opportunity for review of essential clinical skills and synthesis of prior learning with guided review by faculty in the laboratory component assists in the synthesis of theory, assessment, and competence as well as NCLEX-RN preparation. The student will complete the clinical component in either a precepted or advanced practicum setting. Semester Credit Hours: 6.00 Contact Hours: 30/30/135/195 Prerequisites: NU 402 Family Nursing^ and NU 412 Community Nursing^ . Corequisite: None.
