MSW 620 - Psychosocial Assessment and Clinical DiagnosisThis course focuses on understanding psychopathology, behavioral health assessment, and diagnosis across the lifespan using the DSM-V. Symptoms, risk factors, protective factors and interventions are explored. The process of psychosocial assessment, use of screening tools including; mental status exams, depression and anxiety screening tools, differential diagnosis, multi-axial assessment are covered. Additional emphasis on trauma, diversity and emphasis on how social work must use empowerment practice with medical model diagnosis as a tool for psychosocial assessment of clients’ needs and goals. Semester Credit Hours: 3.00 Contact Hours: 45/0/0/45 Prerequisites: Advanced standing or completion of all 500 level MSW courses. Corequisites: None.
