DH 290 - Pharmacology for the Dental Hygienist This course introduces the student to a variety of drug categories, with emphasis placed on commonly prescribed medications and drugs utilized in the dental office. The physical and chemical characteristics of drugs, routes of administration, therapeutic and side effects, precautions, drug interactions, and contraindications to dental treatment will be covered. Semester Credit Hours: 2.00 Contact Hours: 30/0/0/30 Prerequisites: MA 109 College Algebra , DH 105 Dental and Medical Terminology , DH 111 Medical Emergencies in Dentistry , SC 166 Microbiology , and SC 186 Chemistry .
