NU 643 - Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner IThis course focuses on promoting primary preventive health services to improve the health and wellbeing of infants, children, adolescents, and families. Course content incorporates pediatric age specific (0-21 years) evidenced-based health supervision, promotion, and disease prevention with an emphasis on The Bright Futures Guidelines and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Recommendations for Preventative Pediatric Health Care. Personal, family, cultural, community, environmental, and social determinants of health influences are also analyzed for their impact on the physical, psychosocial, and emotional health of the pediatric population. The clinical experience is through direct provision of pediatric primary care in a variety of health care settings.
