Program Description

The Associate of Science in Health and Human Services program prepares students to uniquely approach the objective of meeting human needs through an interdisciplinary knowledge base, focusing on prevention, intervention, theory, and maintenance in practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities. This online program provides a foundational understanding of entry-level work tools and skills for students to focus on providing coordination of services case management, and advocacy, within public and private health and human services agencies and organizations. Upon completion of this degree, students are eligible to continue into the Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Services.

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of this program, the student should be able to:

  1. Understand the history and current human services delivery.
  2. Apply knowledge and theory to multiple levels of human systems.
  3. Demonstrate understanding and integration of models to populations served.
  4. Exhibit how to apply policy to practice.
  5. Build skills in information management.
  6. Adopt ethical and legal standards found in human services.
  7. Engage in genuine interpersonal skills.

Potential Occupational Titles

Potential occupational titles for this program include, but are not limited to, case work aide, family service assistant, daycare assistant, behavioral health technician, human service worker, prevention coordinator, volunteer coordinator, and rehabilitation specialist.

Program Content

A minimum of 60.00 semester credit hours is required for graduation.

Required Courses in Behavioral Health


All courses, 9.00 semester credit hours, are required.

Required Courses in Business and Human Resources


All courses, 6.00 semester credit hours, are required.

Required Courses in Health and Human Services


All courses, 15.00 semester credit hours, are required.

Open Elective Courses


A minimum of 10.00 semester credit hours is required.

Required Courses in General Education


Students enrolled in this associate degree must complete a minimum of 18.00 semester credit hours. 

Personal and Professional Development Courses


2.00 semester credit hours are required.
