Program Description
The Doctor of Nursing Education (DNE) program is an online doctoral program for advanced practice nurses and nurses in advanced roles who have earned a master’s degree in nursing. The DNE program prepares, supports, and empowers students in interdisciplinary knowledge, leadership, innovation, curriculum design, teaching and learning assessment, and evidence-based practice impacting nursing education.
Program Outcomes
Upon completion of this program, the student should be able to:
- Demonstrate competency-based decision-making when planning, implementing, and evaluating strategies to improve nursing education.
- Integrate evidence-based principles of teaching and learning into the development of nursing education curriculum, philosophy, and framework.
- Apply educational principles to shape the future of nursing education, with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Develop educational delivery methods focused on innovative and population-appropriate teaching and learning strategies.
- Demonstrate a professional identity which includes accountability, perspective, and collaborative disposition that reflects the characteristics and values of nursing education.
- Implement the role of the nurse educator in an educational setting.
Program Content
A minimum of 39.00 semester credit hours is required for graduation.
