MSW 622 - Medical Social Work Services and InterventionsThis course focuses on social work practice in medical settings with clients and their families who are experiencing significant health challenges across the lifespan. Medical terminology, roles, organizations, case management, theories of intervention and resource development are explored. Healthcare policies across the lifespan including Medicaid and Medicare. The role of social work in prevention framework and client health education, bereavement, grief therapy, and end of life care will be covered. Public health and community policies are explored. Private healthcare, nursing homes, hospice, managed care policies and impact on services also are covered. Semester Credit Hours: 3.00 Contact Hours: 45/0/0/45 Prerequisites: Advanced standing or completion of all 500 level MSW courses. Corequisites: None.
