NP 226 - LPN Specialty Nursing This course prepares practical nursing students to provide entry-level care for obstetric, neonatal, pediatric, and mental health patients. Emphasis is placed on normal growth and development, common health conditions, and safe, effective nursing interventions. Students will explore coordination of care, documentation, medication administration, and legal and ethical considerations, as well as historical and emerging trends in these specialty areas. Semester Credit Hours: 5.00 Contact Hours: 30/0/135/165 Prerequisites: NP 101 Foundations of Nursing , NP 121 Fundamentals of Practical Nursing , SC 144 Introduction to Anatomy and Physiology .
